Irish Terrier Fact Sheet

Colour: Red or shades of red.

Size: 46cm or 18� at the shoulder.

Weight: 12 to 17 kg depending on the dog�s size.

Health: Tough, hardy and free from most of the usual canine ailments through careful breedings.

Exercise: This is an energetic dog and requires regular exercise. A daily walk will keep him/her in peak condition.

Training: The Irish is a very sensible dog and is easily trained. The Irish is always full of amusing antics. They are suited to town and country life.

Cost: An 8-9 week old puppy that has been vaccinated, wormed and registered with the New Zealand Kennel Club will cost around $600-00 sometimes an older dog or puppy is availble at a lower cost.(This includes a pedigree and papers.)

� The Irish Terrier was bred in Southern Ireland around 1700.
� First used as a watch dog and for vermin hunting.
� The Irish was also used as a messenger dog in WW1. It was highly prized for its bravery and courage.
